autumn weekend

why, hello indian summer! with the weather so beautiful and warm this week, we decided to take a jaunt to Payson for a fall farm fest. It felt like we were crashing a kids birthday party at somebody's house, but it sure was a lot of fun

 I found a cute pink tractor. I was ready to trade in our car right then and there, but André said no.

 

He went for the biggest tractor he could find.

We also bought pumpkins for our doorstep and watched some cows chow down and got some free cookies on our way home

I've written things for the alumni magazine before, but the issue that came out this week was my first under the assistant editor title.

André's first attempt at blogging

Last Friday we went to my mission reunion.  It was fun to see the Murrays and many of my companions and good friends.  It was quite comical when one of my companions and I discovered that we were wearing the same ensemble.  Michelle enjoyed getting to put faces to some of the stories I've told her about my mission.

 Having just got a new position at the MTC and some new hours this Saturday was the first Saturday evening that we've been able spend together since May.  We celebrated by riding horses, doing a scavenger hunt, getting ice cream and watching BYU dominate San Jose State.  Go Cougs and go Shelly, she is a natural equestrian!

It's been a few days the Kaisers.

On Monday our picture was in the Daily Universe

And today we found out we were on ESPN during a football game a few weeks ago, happy faces and all.

People will be lining up for our autographs soon. Don't worry, our people will call your people.

The perfect Tuesday night date:

Copious amounts of cheap Chinese food, a comfy blanket, the most perfect night at the park, and a cute boy. 

Reading in the park together and free Coldstone are just icing on the cake.

Oh, and congrats to us...we've been married two whole months!

triumphs and tragedies

my FHE group used to do this every week...a way to celebrate the wonderful and not so wonderful things of the week.


Tragedies
--On today's afternoon walk, we decided to go get André's bike from the outdoor place in the Wilk, where it had been getting a tune-up. Right before we got there, the power went out on campus so even though his bike was done, they couldn't take a credit card and the ATM didn't have power either, so this boy guy had to walk to work.
--Getting our flu shot, the worker man asked if I was pregnant, but it definitely came out "you look pregnant". The other (female) workers rushed to assure me I don't look pregnant but I guess its time to double up on the ab workouts
--Post flu-shot lethargy had us both digging for meds for a few days. But not to worry, we are on the up and up

Triumphs
--Fall is just around the corner!
--I got to work from home one morning this week and it was wonderful. Lounging in my sweats eating toast while writing and getting paid? Sign me up. And bonus--I was more productive than I would have been at my office
--I finally spelled Illinois right on the first try without spell check. This is a huge accomplishment
--Evening walks to get free milkshakes at Arbys. delish.
--André played a spiritual joke on his (very gullible) missionaries at the MTC. It may have been borderline false doctrine, but he and they both loved it and he came home grinning from ear to ear.
--Flu shots with Looney Tunes bandaids. Thanks, BYU insurance!
--We got to take a walk together on campus almost every day this week

and to make you glad, we've been singing this all week...

I gave André a chance to blog, but for some reason he was busy with more important things (like school...whatevs)

Here is a little glimpse into life lately at the Kaiser home:

 Bekah and Jesse got married! We were so happy for them and excited to go to our first sealing that wasn't ours. There is something special about being in the house of the Lord on such a special day. We loved spending the day with good friends!

We were also the accomplices in Adam's proposal this week. We got to be stealthy and sneak around and make up codes and although we aren't the greatest proposal masterminds (there were a few minor mishaps), Ashley said yes and they couldn't be happier.

 Back on the home front, we love cooking and are realizing Sunday meals are one of our few chances to do it together. It's so fun to have our own place and have friends over for dinner or dessert.

Once we got coupons for free Chic-fil-a breakfast, so we drove all the way to American Fork to get our free food. We paid for our chocolate milks in quarters from our change bag. So sue us, we're poor newlyweds.

Other than that, our days are busy with work, school, evening walks and late night cuddles.
Our apartment is slowly becoming our little home and we love it.

 

Oh, and once André ate a burger as big as his face.
