little moments: september

wow, september. Seriously? Looking at these pictures I can't believe this all happened within one month. We're adjusting to new schedules and responsibilities and trying to squeeze in some fun as well. Now bring it on October!

Labor Day hiking. We realized Rhett is too fat for the Baby Bjorn
Rhett showing off his teeth...oh how the time flies, he's now up to 6 teeth
"I live to frolf"
Time Out for Women was just fabulous...and this was the only picture I got?
I happened across Rhett one day just sitting in his room quietly looking at his church book. Just about the cutest thing you've ever seen
Fruit bouquet--thanks mom and dad!
Instead of dancing with the scarves at the baby concert, Rhett took it upon himself to collect them all and hand them out. That boy just makes me laugh
We found a hidden gem of a restaurant at the regional airport overlooking the mountains. A perfect dinner watching the sunset and the planes.
Rhett goes to the petting zoo...it was love
Colorado is beautiful!
An empty Presidents Exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery...one of my favorite places in DC
Guys, room service is bomb.
Rhett can do somersaults by himself now and he thinks he's the coolest thing ever
A budding artist (Rhett, not André)
Ranger Rhett
Rhett tried his luck at the Broomfield clown contest and was as cute as can be, but lost to a girl whose mom started her face paint at 6am. Sorry Rhett, I refuse to compete with that.
André went biking down Vail Pass and said it was the most beautiful trail ever.
Streaker in training
This is what happens when André is in charge of dinner--bacon and egg burgers!
Just the cutest kid I've ever seen.

friday favorites

This Friday feels like a Monday: I accidentally saved over a few writing assignments and have to start over, a cranky baby started crying in the middle of his nap, and I just realized I triple-booked myself one day next week. Naturally, the only responsible thing to do is to stop facing this problems and blog instead.

Here are a few things we've been loving lately:

When I had a long-ish drive by myself a few weeks ago, André jokingly asked me "Are you just going to download Shake it Off and rock out again and again?" It ended up being a great idea. Thanks, Taylor Swift, for our daily dance party anthem.

I think I mentioned we've been binging Chuck lately, thanks to Netflix and that pesky/handy auto-play feature. This clip always makes me giggle.

Confession: I strayed from my fitness goals this week when I made these delicious M&M bars. I tried to hold back, I really did, but I kept thinking about them and finally caved. I'm weak (but it was totally worth it.

The fact that this picture showed up in my email. Just the fact that the Mariners are even in contention for the postseason makes my heart happy (though they're slipping fast, but it's a fun ride)

Rhett does peek-a-boo and somersaults like it's his job and it's just about the cutest thing you've ever seen.

Happy Friday!

district reunion

On the list of things I never thought I would get to do as a mom (at least not for a long time): fly by myself, go on a business trip, blend in with the commuting types. But I got to do all that (and more!) with my trip to DC this week.

Cliffnotes: I got a job as a freelance editor for an investment firm and they wanted to train my in person for a few days. Perks: it's a great job, I got pampered with swanky hotels and delish foods, and I even got to see my sister+fam. Not too shabby.
Good omens on the flight.
When you travel solo, you end up taking a lot of selfies. I call this "Art Gallery Self Portrait"
and first day of work selfie.
I felt like I was cheating on Good Stuff with a trip to Shake Shack but I had to see what all the hype was about. Verdict=fabulous. And running into an old college friend outside was as weird as it was great.
Also, a stair stepper in my hotel room. You better believe I took advantage of that (mainly just to say that I did, but you know)

It was fun to be back in one of my favorite places and realize how familiar it felt. If you want to feel renewed in America, visit DC. (I seriously did a few mental fist pumps while visiting the American Art Gallery. 'Merica). I loved visiting the Bodens, and especially loved coming back to my sweet boys at home!

little letters

Dear Fall,
I see you creeping in with the chilly mornings and crispy leaves. You can come a little faster, that's fine. I can't wait to break out the cardigans and scarves. (and stop shaving my legs, but that's a story for another day)

Dear Wolf Law Building,
I get it, you're pretty and LEED certified, but can you please free up my husband for at least a little bit of time during daylight hours?

Dear fitness goals,
You the best. And the worst. Thanks for keeping me motivated, but no thanks for taking away my sweets in September.

Dear chocolate chip cookies,
I see you there, all gooey and delicious and "the best cookies you've ever made" according to my husband. But I didn't take a bite (see fitness goals) or even lick my fingers. That is self control, people!

Dear walking Rhett,
Now that you can walk you think you are the big man on campus. I love watching you zombie walk laps around the house with that goofy grin that shows you are so pleased with yourself. Don't ever grow up.

Dear DC,
I'm coming for you and I can't wait to see you in your early fall splendor. See you soon, monuments, museums, and toasted marshmallow shakes (I might even cheat on my fitness goals for you!)

Dear Chuck,
Where have you been all my life? You've sucked us in and become a near nightly watching ritual when we're both ragged from long crazy days and all we want to do is watch our favorite Nerd Herd-er super spy. Thanks for the sanity breaks.
Because every post needs a picture. Are you kidding me with how cute this is? Just two guys headed to a business meeting.
