3 years, baby!

happy three years to us!
it's hard to believe that it has only been 3 years, and that it has already been three years. oh boy.
who knows where the next three years will take us (hopefully graduate degrees, real jobs, a house, etc), but I'm excited to find out!
marriage is a pretty sweet deal when you're in it with your best friend.
babies. we look like babies.

Introducing Emery Street Designs

In my quest for a summer project, I realized I should break out of the box and try something completely new. It's been a long time coming, but my Etsy shop is finally ready for its big debut!

Emery Street Designs features simple designs to celebrate and inspire. Everything is digital, so that means you'll get instant downloads of prints. If you want something customized, the file will be in your email within 2 business days.

I've had lots of fun creating these prints and I hope you'll have fun viewing them. Please share with your friends and family to get the word out. Use coupon code HELLO through August 16 for 50% off your order. Digital prints for $2, people!

anything for a free meal

If you know André and I, you know we'll do just about anything for a good deal. So when we get the chance to eat for free, we're all over it.

Last week was Chic-Fil-A day. For some reason we've never taken advantage of this before, but we've decided it's now a tradition. We whipped up some quick cow costumes and each scored a free meal (even Rhett). Free waffle fries and delicious chicken? Of course!
We gave our headbands to some people as we were leaving to share the free chicken love
Rhett was more into his chicken nuggets than the cow. But the girl on the right? She loved the cow and followed him around the entire time we ate.
This weekend a Cafe Rio opened up close to us. Mormons love Cafe Rio (the place was crawling with BYU gear and modest shorts), and we're no exception. To celebrate they were giving away free meals, and I may have accidentally signed us up for 6 free meals. So we went on Thursday to try something new on the menu and brought friends with us on Friday to go with the classic (pork salad!). We love Cafe Rio, but now we're a little Cafe Rio-ed out. But who knew their horchata was so heavenly?
It's dangerous that this place is only 15 minutes away now.

practically famous 2.0

This is old news, I know, but it needs to be documented for posterity.

Remember in May how we were crazy and went to a taping of American Ninja Warrior in the middle of the night? Well it paid off, because we made it on TV! The episode aired weeks ago but I just got around to finding the screenshots to prove that yes, we really were there. It's a little like "Where's Waldo", but once you see us you can't un-see it. Enjoy!

Intense! and cold!
Happy! This is our big moment on national TV!
Ninja Warrior pro tip: They literally film in the middle of the night. We left at 5am and it was still going strong. It was also freezing, so you can tell how late it was by how empty the stands were and by how many hobos were filling in the gaps.
We'll have our people call your people.

triumphs And tragedies

Rhett is the champ of his swim class! He was floating, stroking, and jumping after just one lesson.

André killed a fly with his bare hands on the first try. This is a major accomplishment.

I have exciting new freelance clients! And a fun creative summer project to unveil soon! So much excitement!

We're planning for our anniversary getaway and family reunion to Michigan and just getting so. dang. excited!

André may have saved the government $10 million with a work project. Somebody give that intern a raise!
Cafe Rio opens this weekend down the street! Obviously we will be first in line.

Rhett and I have been on a serious exploration roll lately. We've discovered some serious Colorado gems. Even lakes! (They're hard to come by around here)

We've been killing it at the library recently. We're almost done reading The Mysterious Benedict Society as a couple and I just started The Happiness Project. Plus, summer reading programs. Woohoo!

And a triumph for technology as I write this on my phone whole holding a sick sleeping baby

Sick, teething baby. Woof.

André stepped on a bee last week (2 summers in a row) and had a massively swollen foot. Thank goodness for Benadryl and loose shoes.

Cooking experiments gone wrong lately: pasta salad (don't mess with a classic), teriyaki chicken, and soggy trifle. To say I have to redeem myself may be an understatement.

Law school. Just so expensive. And figuring out residency petitions and loans and all that jazz just isn't our favorite thing.

I guess life is pretty good when you run out if room for triumphs and have to stretch to think of tragedies. Yay summer!

Not to be all hipster, but we totally used 'murica before it was cool. (see here). Now I refuse to say it. Whatevs.

Our Fourth of July weekend was full of everything it should be--pancakes, fireworks, pool time, bugbites, and so much more! We stuffed ourselves silly with delicious foodI even tried my hand at a patriotic trifle. It got soggy before we ate it, but you win some, you lose some.

Rhett was a swimming champ and even conquered the big pool for the first time! He loved everything we did in the pool and is ready to dominate his swim lessons this week. His only tears were when he had to get out, but luckily Grandma was there to snuggle him up.

We celebrated America with lacrosse and fireworks on the field at Mile High. Maybe one of the best fireworks shows I've ever seen, and being right under the fireworks perfectly timed with music and video was pretty magical.

Happy Birthday, America! Definitely a 4th of July to remember!
