spriiiiing break!

After years of waiting, we finally celebrated our first spring break in forever. Turns out, spring break is pretty awesome. We made the trek to Utah and loved seeing lots of our favorite people and places. Some Lots of highlights:
We hit up our old ward and Rhett found new ways to explore
Rhett made lots of (lady) friends
Sunny days at the park

Rhett had a baby date. There were obviously sparks
Temple walks!
Apparently Provo became obsessed with soda after we moved, so of course we had to experience Swig.
Re-living our mini golf glory days
Rita's!!
Rhett and the ladies. Loved dinner with the old roomies.
And of course we spent lots of time with our favorite Claussens (aka Rhett's new best friends). They were champs for putting up with Rhett in the middle of the night.

I'm now realizing all the other funs things and great people we didn't take pictures of, but we love you all. That little bubble of a college town holds a special place in our hearts and we loved being back for a few days. Long live spring break!

it's spring! let's be glad!

I should be working, because you know...deadlines. But it's a sunny Friday afternoon and I'm stuck inside listening to my baby refuse to take a nap and André has a long day at school. So instead I blog.

First, listen to this as you read. And then listen to all of their songs.

We've finally hit spring, and people, I am loving it! It's about time the weather got nice because this whole staying home with the baby thing + winter has given me a serious case of cabin fever. So Rhett and I are enjoying the weather and going adventures. Look!
Rhett went on the swings for the first time. He loved it, obvs. Total exuberance.
Just trying to play catch in the backyard. We're working on it.
Rhett sits in his stroller now instead of in his carseat in the stroller and he thinks he is just the biggest boy on the block.
A little stroll to watch the geese. Terrifying.

A selfie sesh after getting creeped at by old men fishermen at the lake.
So there you have it. And apparently Rhett only wears stripes.
(also, 10 points if you get the post title reference)

tasty cakes

Goal #14 on my 2014 goal chart? Take a class in something new. After years of wanting to do it, I finally took a cake decorating class on Saturday. Granted, it was the shortened one-day class until I can fit the long course in my schedule, but it gave me the bug. And thanks to a 12 year old boy who didn't think to bring cupcakes or frosting to a cake decorating class, I had a private session.

André definitely doesn't mind my new, tasty hobby. I'm not very good, but now I've got the skills to get better.

If I keep practicing for myself, I'll be obese in no time. So, who needs cupcakes?
